The first week of the year flew by quickly. LA has been a bit cold and rainy lately and even though I miss the sun badly, I’m amazed by the colors now bursting in nature. The green is so intense and happy. This week was mostly about adjusting to alarm clocks and lunch boxes, yeah you know the drill. But my highlight of the week was the reading experience deluxe. I'm so excited, I want everyone everywhere to read this book.
Every week I get newsletters from Hay House, the publishing hub that Louise Hay started at age 60, that since then has spread so much eye opening work for people. This week they had an offer on a kindle version of the book “The Power Is Within You” by Louise herself. I dusted off our kindle and downloaded it. And I can’t believe I haven’t read this book already. She wrote it back in 1991 and it didn’t cross my path until this week.
It’s exactly the book I needed right now, the perfect tutorial on affirmations. I’ve only read 20% of the book so far, kindle keeping track, but those 20% is enough for giving me the chills. I’ll give you an example:
“When you say an affirmation, it might not seem true. But remember, affirmations are like planting seeds in the ground. When you put a seed in the ground, you don’t get a full-grown plant the next day. We need to be patient during the growing season”.
She's such a master with words, Miss Louise, simplifying this wisdom and making it available to all. The reason I started making my affirmation bracelets in the first place, was not because I felt an urge to design a leather bracelet. The reason was my urge to spread the simple technique of using affirmations for growing, thriving and healing, that she describes in this book. And the bracelets has helped me use my affirmations more frequently and being more persistent. They're in my face, so to speak, I can never forget them.
Affirmation of the week I AM FOCUSED
As I in this blog present one affirmation at the time from my collection, the time has come for a tricky one for me personally. Staying focused - I AM FOCUSED. Whenever it’s time to sit down and write a blog post the distractions seems endless. You get hungry, you need to clean the stove with baking soda, and just check one more thing on Instagram ... etc etc etc.
Even though I’ve been meditating daily lately (YAY!) there is still work to be done on this one. Those three simple words "I Am Focused" has been great to use just before starting any work that needs my full attention. This, together with being patient:
“When we are reprogramming our minds, it's normal and natural that we go a little forward, we come a little back. It’s part of practicing. I don’t think there is any new skill that you can learn absolutely 100 percent in the first 20 minutes”.
And with that SHOCKING truth I say bye bye for now, wishing you a great week.
